AA is an expense-splitting app for small groups. This is what it stores and why. It covers the AA website and the AA iOS app.
What we collect
- Your account — an account identifier from whoever you signed in with (Google through Speed, or Apple), and your name and email address if they give us one. Never a password.
- What you put in the app — your books, the nickname you use in each one, and the expenses you record.
- How the app gets used — visit counts, and a few events such as an expense being added. So that two visits can be told apart, the app makes up a random number for itself: it means nothing outside AA, and deleting the app deletes it. No amounts and no notes go into any of this.
Nothing else. AA has no advertising, no third-party trackers and no SDKs that collect data, and we never ask for your contacts, location, photos or the advertising identifier.
How we use it
To run AA and to improve it — sign you in, keep your books, work out who owes whom, and see how the app is used. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, combine it with other companies' data, or track you across other apps and websites.
Who can see it
The other members of a book you join see your nickname there, the expenses you record and your share of theirs — that is what the app is for. Nobody outside a book sees anything in it.
Speed, the platform AA runs on, handles sign-in, hosting and analytics for us, and processes your data only to provide those services.
Otherwise no one, unless the law requires it.
Deleting your account
From Settings in the app, or by writing to the address below. It removes your identity from AA: the link to your sign-in account, and the nicknames other members saw.
The expenses stay in the books they belong to. They are other people's records as well as yours, and removing a bill you paid for would change what everyone else is owed. What is left carries no name and is not connected to you.
Until then we keep your data. On your phone, your sign-in token and an offline copy of your books go when you sign out or delete the app.
Children
AA is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
A new version of this policy appears on this page, with a new date.
